Wadi leaves Caps

GLADAFRICA Championship side JDR Stars have secured the services of Zimbabwean International Ishmael Wadi.

Wadi joins JDR from Harare giants Caps United, competing in the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League on a twoyear contract with an option to extend for another season.

“I have signed Wadi from Caps United in Zimbabwe and there is a young striker as well from Aces Academy, Mandinyenya,” JDR boss JDR Nditsheni Nemasisi told FARPost.

Wadi has been training with JDR for the last two weeks in Pretoria. e striker (28) has always been a menace for defenders in the Zimbabwe Premiership with his pace and eye for goal. JDR have also agreed on a deal in principle to sign Zimbabwean youth international Tapiwa Mandinyenya as they look to replace two of their top players in Vusimuzi Mncube and Train Mokhabi.

Mncube moved to Sekhukhune United, while Mokhabi joined Baroka in the Premier Division.

“ ere is a young striker coming as well from the Aces Youth Academy,” added Nemasisi.

e Aces Academy in Zimbabwe has produced the likes of lethal striker Knowledge Musona and the skillful Khama Billiat.

“He [Mandinyenya] was with the Zimbabwe National U-20 squad. We wanted to sign him last year but couldn’t register him because he was still 17, so Fifa refused us to register him as you can only move to another country when you are 18 years.”

e 18-year-old attacker formed part of the Young Warriors squad at the 2018 Cosafa Under-17 Championships.

“ ese are the two major signings which I think will come in and really come us (in trying to gain promotion to the DStv Premiership and with Mandinyenya, the paperwork and all the details will finalised by Friday,” concluded e JDR chairman.
