The church and the Holy Spirit

BY HUMPHREY MTANDWA

THE presence of God is so intoxicating that when He comes upon an individual they lose sense of everything else around them and are lost in the ecstasy of His presence. Though the presence is so intoxicating it does not just come to a ect us emotionally, but also to impart ideas and enable us for di erent types of tasks.

This presence has a name and a personality, He is the Spirit of God (Holy Spirit) and the same Spirit that made Solomon the wisest king to ever live. When the Holy Spirit came upon Solomon, He gave him wisdom, but you will be surprised to know that He is the same Spirit that came upon Samson who made foolish decisions. Just because He is on a person does not guarantee that person has access to all his abilities. To Samson, He was the Spirit of might; to Solomon, He was the Spirit of wisdom. What He was to Samson was di erent to what He was to Solomon, but it's the same Spirit and both individuals could have had access to all His enablements.

The Holy Spirit is said to be a gentleman and does not force Himself or His gifts on an individual. Just because you feel His presence is not a guarantee that you received all His enablements. For you to gain access to what He carries, you have to receive revelation of that particular area you desire from Him. Revelation grants you access to whatever enablement you desire to have activated in your life. Samson understood that his hair was the tether for him to have access to the Spirit of might, but yet through a foolish decision shared this secret with someone who he knew was working with his enemies and lost his gift.

Revelation gives you information that allows you to have access to what the Holy Spirit carries. We have so many examples of the works of the Holy Spirit. Though we know a lot about the Holy Spirit, we fail to access what He carries because we have made His appearance an emotional experience, but He is more than that. This same Holy Sprit was present when the world was created and He is said to be the very power of God and yet we reduce Him to an emotional experience and His e ects to us as just an aesthetic moment in a service or church programme.

If only we as the church can understand that the Holy Spirit has a voice and so much more than we can imagine, we would press beyond the emotional and desire to relate with Him in a way that can provoke Him to release who He is in us. He gave Noah the speci cations and the enablement that allowed him to build the ark.

Imagine if just a single rub-o on Solomon made him the wisest man and a single rub-o on Samson made him carry gates of a whole city up a mountain. How much can He do through you? Today I am challenging you to press beyond the emotional experience. He is more than an emotional experience, He is the one responsible for the creation of the world we see today. Take advantage of all the knowledge He carries and His wisdom and you will be surprised with the life you will live. I want you to press beyond the emotional ecstacy to a point where you discover who He is and tap into His enablements and gifts.

God bless you.
